Alexander Eisenschmidt

Designer, theorist, and Associate Professor at the University of Illinois Chicago School of Architecture, where he teaches design studios and history and theory courses. He holds a Ph.D. from the University of Pennsylvania, a Master of Architecture from Pratt Institute, and a Diploma in Architektur und Städtebau from HTWK Leipzig. His work explores the productive tension between the modern city and architectural form, with publications in journals such as JSAH, Grey Room, and The Architect’s Newspaper. Eisenschmidt co-curated Chicagoisms at the Art Institute of Chicago and directs both Studio Offshore and the Visionary Cities Project.
