Amy Slaton
Drexel University
Professor emerita of history at Drexel University, specializing in the social character of technoscientific work. She holds a PhD in History and Sociology of Science from the University of Pennsylvania and has written extensively on building technologies, labor, and the politics of technical expertise. Her books include Reinforced Concrete and the Modernization of American Building (2001) and Race, Rigor, and Selectivity in U.S. Engineering (2010), with a forthcoming title from MIT Press. Slaton co-edits History+Technology, runs amyeslaton.com, and publishes widely on equity in technical education, focusing on race, gender, disability, and queer identifications.
